Long Time No See

Oh wow. I haven’t really been on here for the longest time. But life has been life, with school and everything.

Sam is going nuts because my mom’s home from work.

Ouch! Just stepped on one of Percy’s toys. Dogs… gotta love them.

But something I realized is that dogs are literally perfect.

Sure you have to train them, but they are. Let me explain.

  1. Loyalty. Dog will be loyal to their humans… forever. It’s one of the things we humans lack sometimes.
  2.  Love. Okay Okay. Humans can have this too. But do humans love each other to no end? Don’t know danger because all they want is to protect? Just stare and memorize every exact detail so they never forget? Come running over to the person they love like the world was going to end but then they came? Writing this now I realize I could write a poem about love… Anyway… I know everyone who’s married or dating would say yes. But we can’t really understand how much dogs love us. Granted the dog’s brain lights up where our brains light up when we see someone we deeply love with.  But will that person sacrifice themselves just because they don’t want you to feel like you need to do it? That’s what a dog’s love means. Any dog lover would agree.
  3. Playfulness. As humans age they get less playful, because of getting tired out or breathless. Dogs can get to where they would be eighty in dog years yet will sometimes still play like a puppy. I think everyone will agree with me when I say that no human can have a dogs playfulness through their entire life. (Percy is running around in a circle like a madman while Sam is just moving across the room to come face-to-face with Percy which sets him off in the other direction, ect.)
  4.  Last but not least… Adorable. Sure babies are a rival for this… but are babies like adorable furry pillows? I don’t think so. Are all babies adorable their entire lives? Some, but not all. (I mean no offense to anyone.) However dog lovers never get tired of looking at their dog. Maybe we do understand part of a dog’s love.

It’s how we love them back.

Pittsburg

As some of you might know last week there was a shooting at a shul in Pittsburg. 11 people were killed and some are still in critical condition. The oldest of the people killed was a 97 year old holocaust survivor. Which according to Google they were just 25 years old then. To survive hitler (he was a jerk, I would use a stronger more mean word but I’m not allowed to cuss. A story is a different thing.) and then die because of a freaking anti-semitic (doesn’t deserve to be capitalized.) is unimaginable. The youngest was 52, I think. It’s just terrible.  At my shul on Shabbos there were cops patrolling the neighborhood and outside. It’s wonderful that there are people who care. But then there are people who don’t.

For instance my mother and I went into a bookstore, and when we ere checking out this lady kept harassing us to buy a membership cad thingy. My mother kept telling her no. But then she brought up the holidays. Finally my mother told her we were jewish. She said this:

“Oh. I’m so sorry about Pittsburg.” Thanks for reminding us… 😡

Mother: “Thank you. It’s been a hard week.” Pro Mom!

Cashier: “Oh, for the Christians too!”

It’s not like I have anything against Christians or anything, my BTCFF (Best Traffic Cone Friend Forever) is one, and I know that doesn’t I know everything about Christianity, I mean maybe the cashier was trying to comfort us in some strange way. I don’t know.

I know it’s short and I haven’t written anything  yet, but I’m going to eat dinner soon. Thanks guys! (the image is Leafpool.)

Let’s talk

Since Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur have passed I thought to start the Jewish new year with a bang! I’m doing a new series called “Lets Talk” TM Looking at it now, it’s already trademarked by something else, but I don’t Care! If you don’t like it, have a topic, or want a shoutout tell me in the comments! Today’s Topic:

Eyebrows!

What is with everyone’s sudden obsession of them? There’s this video of this guy who’s talking about his 28 year old daughter who lives with him. Instead of that being the problem the problem is that she looks to him for daily confirmation that she has “banging” eyebrows. And it’s not like it was just that. Eyebrows are one of my nervous spots. I get nervous when someone mentions them. My friends were talking about it. So if you know what the big deal about eyebrows is. Please tell me in the comments. Thank you so much!

Racism is NOT okay!

I have this friend in my school. (For her protection I’m not going to say her name, but we’ll call her Rachel). Rachel is a very proud Mexican American. And she should be! Mexican and other heritages are VERY important. So why do people tease others on it? As I was pondering this, I remembered a conversation I once had with Rachel. She told me she had experienced racism. Sadly, I was not surprised. She is clearly half Mexican, so it was obvious that she had or will experience racism in her lifetime. As sad as it is to think about that, it’s the truth. it’s not like Rachel is mean or anything at all, in fact she’s a wonderful friend and I love seeing her and talking to her. Today I asked her a question about Spanish because she’s fluent in it (I think, I’ve seen her talk in rapid Spanish but I’m not sure.) and she answered patiently. But (back to the topic) now the facts. When did racism first appear? People began seeing it around the Slavery times. Sadly racism fell onto different definitions as of the 2000s. I mean racism is all over the place (sadly) and I’ve seen it put on Rachel. Needless to say I lost my temper. I hate a lot of bad things. But one of the things I hate most is to see someone put down my friends. It makes my blood boil.

A really good quote by Larry Holmes says what I’ve been wondering. He says that “I didn’t fight this fight for the blacks, the whites, or the Spanish. I fought the fight for the people. We’re all G-d’s children. I don’t see color…” (that’s not all of the quote. I’m sorry if anything in this blog accidentally offends anyone.) My question is why can we see other human being as a species, not a color, religion, and so much more.

I’m sick of seeing hate. I’m sick of seeing fear. And I’m sick of seeing RACISM! The only way we’re going to stamp this out is if we work together. So the people that are racist, get your brains off the ground and turn your heart back from stone and help us!

Fasts And reviews (SPOILER ALERT)

So just on Sunday I had to fast… religious reasons. Anyway during to the fast we also had to be sad so my mom and I watched sad movies. But only until like one in the afternoon. Anyway I watched some pretty sad movies. And I told my mom no Holocaust movies. (If you are one of those people that believe it didn’t happen, please leave my blog. It did happen… it’s in the history books!) And what am I doing? I’m writing a review!

  1. After the rain-  What could be better about a guy who gets cancer and leaves behind his mother and girlfriend right? And even better it’s based off a true story! That was sarcasm all the way. But this movie has truth behind it. That kind of movie is sad but I’m glad they exist, other wise those people would die and eventually no one would remember them. Also I’m sooooo (spoiler alert!!!!!) glad he didn’t burn the pictures like he said he did! So on a one to five on the depressing movie scale I give it a four!
  2. The Fault in our stars- two teenagers both with terminal cancer fall in love. Sweet story. But not a true story. Hazel thinks she’s going to die but (spoiler alert!!!!!) then Gus dies before her.  After he dies her dad sits her down and says that how she feels when Gus dies is what they’re going to feel like when Hazel dies. (she’s going to die because she has stage four lung cancer.) They’ll feel sad, but the only reason they’re just trying to keep her alive longer is because it was an honor to see her and meet her while she was alive. (my mom pointed this out) She also pointed out that why Hazel hate the author dude is because she’s worried that will happen to her parents, that they’ll just fall apart. That also might be why she’s so insistent on what happens at the end of the book. But the author doesn’t know, because he’s just to heartbroken (The book was made for his daughter who died.) So on the scale I give it a full five!
  3. The age of Adaline- I’ll try not to spoil it too much, but if you’ve never seen this movie I seriously recomend it!!!! ( Sorry for any misspells.) It’s happy but has sad parts in it. At least it has a happy ending.  It’s about this woman who suddenly stops aging. By the time she does (spoiler alert!!!!! Sorry!) dies she’s 107. But don’t worry the story doesn’t end there. Also I’ve never seen a grown woman so happy to find a gray hair.  On the scale I give it a six! But it’s not that depressing, so the scale is wonky to begin with.

Thank you!
